K2 User Module error was created by Dean Horn
I've been using K2 successfully on my company's website for that past year. Recently, I migrated my site to a new VPS. Since then I get an error when using the K2 User Module. Specifically, when a user navigates to an article that contains the module, the entire page is blank except for the module greeting and the first list item: (Screenshot: i.imgur.com/kyhSKmg.jpg?1 )

I've narrowed the code to this line within the file /modules/mod_k2_user/tmpl/userblock.php:

JRoute::_(K2HelperRoute::getUserRoute($user->id)) (Screenshot: i.imgur.com/fWhq8Mo.jpg )

When I remove the code and place a generic href link, my page will load correctly again: (Screenshot i.imgur.com/QjwHv17.jpg ).

I could use Joomla's default login module but the K2 User Module is the only way I've found that allows users to edit articles that have a future publish date from the front end (our users are set up for front end editing only).

The module works correctly on my local production site (on my computer) and our old grid-hosted site but fails on the new VPS. Is there some Apache setting I need to enable to get this to work correctly?

Hello Dean,

Can you enable error reporting so we can see the actual error?

I've enable Error Reporting to "Development" and attached a link to a screenshot of the page that includes the K2 User Module:

@Dean Horn

That screenshot is not helping. We need a screenshot when the page is blank ( and error reporting is set to "development" ) as you described in your first message. So probably you need to try to login and then take the screenshot.

Thank you for your quick response.

I'm afraid this screen shot may not help either. I have error reporting set to "Development" and when I login to the frontend using the K2 User Module, the page is blank except for the text shown. There are no errors displayed. In fact, all of my page elements are missing: menu, modules, article text, breadcrumb, graphics, etc.

OK then, go to to K2 information page and ensure that "Multibyte string support" is enabled on your server.

Ask your hosting provider to enable it and everything should work fine.

Thank you! I used EasyApache to enable Mbstring and now the page loads correctly. I appreciate your help.

Hi,

I have the same problem but "Multibyte string support" is enabled on my server.

After K2 login/logout - Error 500
but no problem with normal Joomla login modul ..

I upgraded the site from J1,5 to J3.3.6. with SP UPGRADE.

I imported Joomla users with K2's "Import Joomla! users" button.

Regards,
Gyula
