Microdata disappears was created by Seekat Seemonster
Hi there

I'm trying to streamline my site by adding microdata to K2 items. I find the when using specific editors like TinyMCE and JCE, the moment you hit save, it removes all the microdata you added to the item. (driving me crazy) The weird thing is, that when I use CODEMIRROR as an editor, I can save the item and all microdata remains.

Is there anything I might be doing wrong that make my markup disappear? Is this a know issue?

This is an issue of TinyMCE or JCE. Each editor has its own settings of which tags to strips and which to keep.

Ya that weird as microdata in modules and articles are not removed with JCE and TinyMCE.

I wonder if anyone else experienced the same issue or have been able to recreate it?
Is anyone using any other editors apart from JCE & TinyMCE?

I found this problem with JCE when I used some typography tags.
I switched to TinyMCE and it worked well.

Mohamed I think this needs to be reported to JCE's devs so they can provide a fix.

Thanks for your input guys.
It seems like there is a firm understanding of where the problem lies, but does anyone have an opinion on the solution. I'm fine with using CodeMirror but some of my clients are not so savvy. The implication of my clients opening an K2 item and TinyMCE or CodeMirror opening is, I'll have a client that struggles to work with their own content. The other implication is if I add markup to K2 items on a client's website and they simply open the item with JCE or TinyMCE, let alone make changes, all my microdata will be lost.
These implications kind of kills K2 as a viable option for professionals using Microdata and different kinds of typography.

Any suggestion?

@Seekat Seemonster

Have you done what Krikor suggested? Have you checked your editor options? Have you checked the text filters in both K2 parameters and Joomla! configuration? You can also try to create overrides for K2 templates and put the microdata markup there as the core articles system is doing.

Ya baby - got it working in JCE
TinyMCE still problematic as there is no configuration or control panel in the Joomla Control Panel. Guess solution will come from some sort of override like Lefteris suggested.

Solution - JCE has it's own control panel with custom configuration.
- Under Editor Global Configuration - is a section called "Cleanup & Output"
- Doesn't matter what settings you configure in this section, it still removes your markup data.
- Simply disable/select "NO" on all options

Thanks for everyones input

Great!

For TinyMCE configuration, there is a plugin called Editor - TinyMCE, edit it and you will be able to configure many options.
