URL parameters missing on save was created by Stanley Jacox
Hello Forum
I have a problem where the URL parameters are missing after pressing Save when editing an item in K2. It was working fine before an update to Joomla 3.4 failed and I had to revert to 3.3.6. Since that time saving an item saves, but returns with a blank screen because the item's parameters are missing from the URL bar for example www.xyz.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&cid=521 for example returns www.xyz.com/index.php
I have also discovered it no longer saves images. Editing articles and using media manager in Joomla works normally.
Enabling error reporting at Developed level shows no php errors. I reinstalled K2 over the existing version and no change.

A few days ago I read a post that I can't find now that said the poster repaired this problem by editing out a ";" in a language file and that solved my problem for a day, then the problem returned.
Help, trying to go live on the site and can't until I can edit some items.

Hello,

Which other extensions are you using?
This is probably caused by a 3rd party extension.

Krikor, thank you for your response. I am using a number of them, most came with a JoomlaXTC template that has been working for some time. Originally it was on J3.1.1 then gradually updated to 3.3.6. The problem started when doing a one click update to 3.4 and it could not finish, and that broke Joomla. I recovered a full root backup of my VPS. The only new'ish extension was adding Ark Editor but disabled it as a test to see if that was involved. All the non-K2 articles, categories and extensions seem to to work normally.
There are no back end error displayed with error level set to development level. but checking the front end, there are error of undefined variables when ArkEditor was enabled. They stopped when going back the the original editor.
Without a good understanding of how K2 works, and where the parameters passed to the url when saving so I am at a loss as to how to get back to where I was a week ago when everything worked.

Is K2 on its latest version?
Also you can try disabling extensions one by one to find the culprit.

The version is 3.3.6 because the upgrade to 3.4 failed twice to install. I have talked 2 people who had the same problem with 3.4 and had to recover the full system to earlier versions. The reasons have not been figured out. That problem was one that was reported as bugs in the RC of 3.4.
I hope an answer comes up or else I'll have to start over without K2 which I would prefer not to do.
Time to start disabling extensions, ones that all worked together nicely before the aborted upgrade....

I actually meant, what is K2's version.

I have talked 2 people who had the same problem with 3.4 and had to recover the full system to earlier versions.

You are talking about J 3.4?

Finally the K2 issue is most likely caused by a 3rd party extension.
Try disabling extensions one by one to find which one is causing the conflict.

Hi Krikor, yest, the Joomla 3.4 failed install is what started the problem so I reverted to 3.3.6. The K2 version is 2.6.9. I have backed up everything and installed a fresh version of J3.4 on the final domain, and going to try to transfer the articles and items to it with a fresh install of K2. I tried disabling everything I could think of last night until 6 am this morning with no change in the K2 losing the url parameters when saving. If I have success I will report back so others who run into the same sort of problem will have another point of reference. I just don't want to lose the articles and items if at all possible since it is a long development process with the content and shopping cart. Thank you for the suggestions
Stan

Hi Krikor I am using a modified version of K2Store. I disabled it when testing for the problem along with every other non-essential extension. I created a fresh 3.4 install on another testing domain and everything worked without problems except that my content would have taken months to recreate. I have not figured out a method of transferring all the articles, items and extensions from the original site.
Whatever the problem is caused by it must has been caused by the failed update of 3.3.6 >3.4 because it had been working without any problem for months up till reverting back to 3.3.6.

You can use an import/export tool.
No need to enter the content manually :)

There are plenty available in the JED and getk2.org/extend/extensions

A lot of users use this www.individual-it.net/en/Instructions-for-K2-Import-Component.html
