Hi,

A site our company has built previously has recently been giving issues with Spam within the K2 installation.
Spam users are created and used to post spam pages.

Coupled with this issue, we cannot access any K2 items from the backend of the site. When an item is opened from the backend, it simply prints out a 500 server error message.

We have tried the following steps:
1) We have updated K2.
2) We have updated Joomla.
3) We have activated Debugging/Error Reporting from within the Joomla Global Configuration. The message does not change. from that of a standard 500 server error message.

These items can be viewed from the front-end without any issues - but not the back-end.

- What could be causing this, and how do I fix it?
- How do we remove Spam users from the website, and therefore spam pages? We have emptied the K2 Users table within the database, but have had to revert back to a backup due to it giving issues.

Hi Estian,

For the 500 server error, it is helpful to look at the error logs files, find the issues related to the item edit form requests and try to fix them

I'm not an expert on looking at logs, do you perhaps have time to look at it on my behalf?

I could create a temporary user for you, if I could get the details through to you.

I will need FTP access to look at the log files, if it is ok you can send them via the contact me form, the link in my signature.

Hi Estian,

Unfortunately I couldn't find any clue in the log files I can access with FTP.
I think looking into the apache log errors file will help.

Have you tried disabling 3rd party extensions to see if this is caused by another plugin?
