Publish locked K2 items via Frontend was created by Alan Sander
Hi there,

comes K2 with a in-build Frontend option, which allows a user to release saved items, which he has not released yet, in the future?

We have this issue:

We administrate a website, which includes K2 Blog. All users can publish items via Frontend. The inbuild K2 Blog item edit form includes the option to hide a item, which is not done. How is it possible, that a registered user, who use this option and save the article, can release this item in the future via frontend?

Hi Alan,
I apologize but I cannot exactly understand what you are trying to achieve. Do you want the frontend user to be able to modify the start publishing date of an article ?

Hi Teo,

we have registered user, which blog via frontend. They have no access to backend.
The input mask of "Publish a new item" include the option to set the publishing of the item, on yes or no.
If the user set the publishing to no, click on save and close the input mask, he has no access to this item via frontend.
This items will be display in the item overview, but the have no access a unpublished item, which will be displayed with the notice
"blocked" in the item overview of the user.

At this item, he is only able to publish and make changes on this post, if he ask the admin, who has access to backend and publish this post.
There it is possible, to publish or unpublish a post.

It would be great, if there is a possiblity, that the registered user can publish and unpublish a post via frontend, as he want it.

Best

In the K2 user's groups the settings you are looking for are:

Edit any item
Allow editing of already published items

and of course "Publish items".

With the combination of these three settings you can pretty much have the user publish/ unpublish items that belong in that combination.

Hi Krikor,

thank you for your hint.

I've a question to your answer.

Does the option "Edit any item" means, that the registered user can make changes also on items of other users?
Or does it means, that he can only make changes on his items?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Alan,

Hi Teo,

and thats why we disable this option, because we don't want, that registered users can make changes on items of users, who have more rights and stand higher in ACL.

So its not possible, that this user group, publish locked items on frontend, if we hide this setting for this user group?

I will look into the issue (locked items).
Have you tried the combination of "Allow editing of already published items" and "Edit own items" ?
