disable edit profile at my account without FTP was created by Dániel Tüzes
Hi,
I have no FTP access to the site, and the Joomla file manager cannot see the folder template, nor other system-specific folder. Is there a way to prevent special users or user groups to modify their password and e-mail address via the admin backend? It would be fine by either
  • Remove "My account" link from the K2 User site module
  • Disable the page /component/users/profile?layout=edit
  • Disable the the fields or the button submit at the page mentioned

I use K2 version 2.7.2 and joomla version 3.6.2

Hello,

The page /component/users/profile?layout=edit is a view generated from Joomla! itself.

You can publish a redirect so a user cannot access but in order to alter the look and remove the links you will need FTP access in order to override it.

Unfortunately the same goes for the K2 User module.

You should need FTP access to make changes the look and remove links from user account.

Yes, without FTP it is nearly impossible to perform changes in your templates, unless the overridden files already exist.

This way you could use Joomla!'s template editor.
