Hi there,

I have a lot of tags in my database which are duplex – the only difference is the syntax. For example these 5 tags are separated as one tag each, although they should be one and the same:
  • motoerhead
  • motörhead
  • Motörhead
  • Motoerhead
  • MOTORHEAD

The problem: The system thinks that these are completely different and separate tags and as a result link them all to different articles. But just the syntax differs – the topic is the same.

So the question is: Is there a way (plugin / script ...) to merge these tags to just one tag (in this case "motoerhead")?

Thank you for any advice.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Kudos for your taste in music.
Unfortunately there is no plugin for this that I am aware of.
This is a task which should be performed in the database.

Hi Krikor,

hehe, thanx – seems you like good music, too ;-)

Puh, doing that in the database is too much work and too complicated, I guess ... with all that reference-numbers.
Too sad. Or do I miss something? :/

Oh, think I missed the last answer which could lead to the solution via the WPPipes Add-on on virtualstuff.info/product/k2-tags-merge/

So I'lll give it a try. Would be very cool...

Thank you!

After several hours of work, I can finally say: It is very useful and works like it should, really waited for a an extension like that for years. I had over 13.000 tags on my site, now I have a little less ;-) Did work in Chrome, Firefox and even Safari with Joomla 3.8.
