Resize pics automatically after upload... was created by Litho-Verlag e.K.
Hi
im searching a tool to resize automatically all the pics users upload with k2, as singel pic oder for the gallery.
At least there is no way to convice the usere to reduce the pics volume. And some of my sites have after 140 new items a pic volume of 1.5 GB

So I'm searching a tool, which will run at the server automatically, either from time to time running by cronjob or after upload of new pics.

Can somebody help me?

That is my wish as well for a new k2 version.
thank you!

Hello,

Unfortunately only GD lib resizing (PHP) is available.
You can optimise the images but you will need other extensions. most of them will work with ssh only though.

But you see that problem? In times where smartphone cameras made pics with 20mb volume and the users are unable ro resize them ("Why should I do that Facebook works???") and transfer volume and speed of WlAN, LAN or phone doesn't matter any longer, I think that would be a really good investment. I would pay for such a solution!

If you cannot upload 20mb images you can increase PHP max upload size. You can ask your hosting provider to do this for you, if you do not know how to do this.

Furthermore you can save disk size by regularly emptying the /media/k2/items/src/ folder.
Make sure to a) ALWAYS KEEP A BACKUP.
b) NEVER remove the index.html file.
