Problem saving K2 articles was created by Fahad
Hi. On two of our joomla websites we are having problems saving the K2 articles. The admin page goes offline or crashes when I click the save button. It does not happen all the time. It depends upon the content in the articles. If the content exceeds X characters / words it happens. These things have been tried already without success:

- Set memory limit in all php.ini files for both server side and local files.
- Checked each plugin if they are clashing or not.
- Changed data type in database field name full text.
- Changed text editor in Joomla.
- Re-installing K2.
- Updated joomla.

We have had joomla expert look at the problem and he thought that this is a server problem and the host needs to look at it. He said: ensure mod_security is turned off on hosting. Then we contacted the host and they tried to solve the issue, but without success. They said at the end:

''Since the issue is intermittent and it takes to long to save the article I suggest you the following action plan:
1. Contact K2 plugin developers to check the issue.
2. If K2 plugin developers report that everything works as expected from their side, please get back to us with results of their investigation and we will continue to check the issue further.''

Can you guys please help me out?

Sure,
Enable error reporting and paste the error code you get when the site crashes.

504 means that the server did not get a timely response.
I think you need to ask your hosting provider about this issue.

- Set memory limit in all php.ini files for both server side and local files.

This error can be the result of incorrect limits (too low in some cases).

Hi, we have now checked properly, and the problem is not in the host, its in K2. Normal joomla articles saves without any problem. And we put up a new joomla installation on the same domain, installed k2 there, and tried saving a k2 article with the exact same content and it worked fine. So I can't see any other problem than in k2 on my site. Can you please have a look at the back end and try to solve it?

It's a trial/ error issue here.
Which extensions are you using in the site with the issue, and you are NOT using in the functioning one?

I am sorry but this is beyond the scope of our support.
I can guide you through it, but I cannot invest hours on each site I get requested to.
