Cache file randomly saves garbage data was created by John Doe
While otherwise working correctly, simple rss feed reader randomly (but quite often, about 50-50 chance) creates a cache file that has invalid data in it, while both the website and feed are fine. This results in an error in reading the cached file and nothing displaying. It can only be fixed by clearing the cache file, although you still don't know if the new file will be written properly or not.

Corrupt feed xml file: pastebin.com/3330TNpQ
Proper feed xml file (note that nothing changed in the feed or website): pastebin.com/Cm75XGeP

Feed URL: isathens.gr/syllogos/arxeio-drasewn-isa/arxeio-syndikalistiko.feed?type=rss

I've tried disabling cache by setting it to 0 minutes in the module's configuration (although not the best solution) but it kept creating a cache file

Using Joomla 3.4.1, Simple RSS Feed Reader v3.3 on a local wamp server on windows. Tried with PHP 5.3 and 5.5, Apache 2.2

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I cannot verify the issue. Just tested and it works fine on my setup. What's your exact PHP version?

Do you get the same behavior in both installations?

Can you try with a different feed and report the results?

Didn't get the error with a different website, so I guess it's somehow that feed that is problematic...
