I have an article on my Joomla site that features around two dozen  AllVideos {mp4} tags, one after another, to let my viewers watch different videos, all of which are hosted on the webserver.

Viewers of this page see all of the players immediately, but usually with a black background. Over the course of a minute or two, the players eventually start showing a still image taken from the video.  Meanwhile, however, if someone tries to actually watch one of the videos, it won't start playing right away, presumably because all of the other players are busy in the background fetching data from the video files in order to populate the still images.  That obviously creates a usability issue.

I'd like people to be able to hit play on any one of the videos and have it start playing immediately, ideally by just disabling this background data-fetching behavior.  But if that's not an option, I'd be grateful for any other suggested solutions.

This looks like a server issue. Most likely some sort of rate limiting is imposed on all visitors, thus why you cannot playback the videos.

Disabling the preview is out of the scope of the support provided here.

A server limitation makes sense.

Can you elaborate on why disabling the preview is "out of the scope of the support provided here?" Just curious if that implies anything specific. Regardless, please consider it a feature request.

Because it would require changing core plugin code :)

In any case, you should worry more about the rate limiting imposed by your server rather than AllVideos. Cause this could translate to missing traffic.

I have discovered that the performance issues I was complaining about above were due to a server misconfiguration issue and had nothing to do with AllVideos.

I extend my apologies to the developers.
