I have the same issue and I have already tried all the combinations.
The combination for my case is
Front-end item editing: Yes
Add items: Yes
Edit own items: Yes
Edit any item: No
Publish items: Yes
Allow editing of already published items: Yes.

K2 v2.8.0 .

Which Joomla! version are you using and are you using any 3rd party K2 extensions?
