I get an error message now when saving items and catgegories due to the upgrade of PHP to 8.0 and i read that installing K2 2.11 would solve the problem.
I have installed 2.10.4 for there was a thread saying that might work but it didn't help. I have some custom css but when I deleted that I still got the error message when saving an item.

I can find version 2.11 on Github but do I need to replace everything file by file? Or is there a quicker way?? It stated somewhere that you can get a zip file??

My pages by tags from file tag.php display the following error when I try to upgrade my php version from 7.4 to 8.0 :

Non-static method K2ModelItem::getItemTags() cannot be called statically

For information I am using k2 v2.9.0 which I cannot update at the moment due to bugs on later versions.

Maybe some could help me ??

I can't upgrade my site to version 8 of PHP.

This error is displayed in "development" debugging on my site (php 7.4) :

Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /homepages/--/---/htdocs/---/templates/ts_news247/html/com_k2/templates/default/item.php on line 311

Could this error be the cause? Do you have a solution ? Thanks

I'm having a similar issue (I think) where my SEM Rush audit is coming back with all sorts of different URL's for my category pages:


It's a K2 + SH404sef site that has been migrated / upgraded from Joomla 2.5.x so I'm hesitant to start flipping switches.  

It might even be because I was using an outdated version of the K2 -> SH404sef plugin for a while.  I think that's all current now, too.  

Can you point me in the right direction?

Is K2 up to date as well?

I would also advice using the Joomla Update component to re-install Joomla entirely, not just the upgrade patch you most likely did before.

An update on the matter.

It has come to my attention that Plesk, the hosting control panel, will block the CSS/JS files of older elFinder releases. elFinder is the 3rd party media manager that is bundled with K2 (and SIGPro etc.).

This is probably the reason why you see a blank page (if it's not a JSON issue of course as I indicated above).

Please confirm that your site is hosted on Plesk for those with this issue.

I will upgrade elFinder in its latest release in a while and I'll update this thread in the coming hours (or sooner) so you can install the 'dev' release of K2.

In the past, www.blackfire.io/ helped me to diagnose performance issues. Also, Xdebug has a tool to check performance issues.

This is my leading case, running K2 and Joomla 3: sisanjuan.gob.ar/. Yesterday, I upgraded it to PHP 8 and it is delivering pages in 100ms.

This means that the upgrade did not work as expected in the first place - only parts of K2 where updated.

This could be related to broken file ownership or access permissions or it could be related to partial support for a newer codebase.

Since you get the error "Unknown character set: 'utf8mb4'" can you please check and tell me which version of Joomla you're using and on which exact PHP and MySQL versions? You should get the latter from the system information page in the Joomla backend.

My guess is that your hosting company performed some database upgrade causing these issues. Try upgrading K2 to v2.10.4 from getk2.org/downloads/?f=K2_Development_Release.zip as it will update some database columns to be compatible with newer versions of MySQL and MariaDB.

Additionally, I highly recommend you upgrade Joomla to v3.10.x as well. It's really safe to do so.

@mahendra Do not cross-post please. You have been using a modified K2 that saved images in PNG (which K2 never did by default). Find the hack you used or if you didn't do the hack, ask whoever did it. Or just convert your images in JPG (if you know how).

You may check on Verot forum, the script which generates images when they are uploaded.

I have got the issue why my old images are not visible because updated k2 code is written for jpg image and my old images are png even if I upload new png image k2 save it as jpg.

I understand that your files are physically on your server in /media/k2/items but are not loading on your item page
