How can I avoid requiring the user to install Silverlight?

We are creating a site for China and I don't want to require users to have to install any plug-ins. We do not need to play WMV files, but the browser will still prompt the user to install Silverlight.

I'd use an alternative player, but I can't find one that will stream from Chinese video streaming sites--a requirement.

Any suggestions? Perhaps there is an older version of AllVideos that does not require Silverlight but will still allow embedding from the Chinese video sites? Or, is there some other way to suppress the need for Silverlight?

I know this has been asked before, but I haven't found any answers. Certainly, somebody must have found a solution to get around the Silverlight requirement. Perhaps you can point me in right direction. Thanks.
