Hi does anyone know how to disable the detail tab in the frontend editing lightbox?

Looking for this as well. If we don´t get any hints from developers - should we switch to a joomla form builder for frontend-submission?

sigpro - I saw this post as well as the other thread about front end editing. You probably can hide things with the above method if you use css4k2 addin and add it to your style.css in your k2 template folder.
Hiding and changing the category pick list is two different things. I dont know exactly where the form for that is, I think its in the javascript somewhere.
