How can we integrate intense debate script into K2 extension to oblige comment counter as well?

I was able to get intense debate script displayed by editing item.php in default folder but had no luck in getting comment count displayed within default k2 counter.

Any help would be appreciated

Any word on this? I would like to increase the functionality of the K2 commenting system.
