Hi
Can anyone point me to the code where this setting in the Comments section of the Parameters.

I am still trying to use the Joomla users database and registration and not using K2's registration system BUT if I want to restrict commenting to Registered users this checks the jos_k2_users table and I want the check made on the jos_users database instead...anyone help with this please.

Can I ask why you dont want to use the K2 registration?
Using K2 Users gives you more flexibility and control.
Just trying to understand your goal.

To be honest I would be happy to use K2 registration BUT my goal is to have an easy method to collect additional information at the registration page.

Take a look here www.communitynetworkspain.com/en/register.html

This is the sort of thing I want...Using Chronoforms makes this easy and everything works great except the fact that K2 is left out and registered users are not added to jos_k2_users table...you have to manually go in to the back end, open the new user in k2 users and save them...

solutions I would like are...

Have K2 registration expanded so I can add fields and store that extra data
or
Use the Joomla users table (jos_users.block) to restrict commenting...ie in k2 parameters you can set commenting to disabled, enabled for everyone, enabled for registered users OR ENABLED FOR REGISTERED USERS IN JOOMLA USERS TABLE

Thanks for your help

OK, I fully understand.

I am going to speak with K2 devs to see if we can extend this.

That would be great...either way I think its a must to be able to extend Joomla/K2 registration to include the ability to capture more information...I have searched the net and apart from a few addons like chronoform you have to hack the core etc which is not the best solution if updates are to be considered.

I notice K2 has SOME extra fields...Gender and Description, to its registration maybe extending this would be better?

Anyway anything you can come up with will be great...

What do you think of the use of K2 on the site?

Regards

Mark

Its being discussed.

Site looks good so far.

There are a whole host of things you can do to make the site less K2 default as well.
Change social icons, change text in language files, re-order blocks of code to change position of elements displayed, add icons to the print, email, gallery text links.
