As part of my design, I would like to show on the sidebar or in the footer a feed of the last x items in a particular category.Is that possible with K2?

Ok I've found there's a K2 content module which looks to offer what I need.

If I set it up as one of my module positions though ("news_feed" in this instance), I'm not getting any content shown on the site. Also, how/where do I apply template changes for the module output?
