Maybe someone reed this and will take a look @ my problem.

 

Is there a way to categorize comments on items?

 

I have a forum witch i want to change in a joomla K2 site.

its some kind of online knowledge base site for electronics.

the basic meaning is that users could add service tips etc.

 

So if you take for example "cell phone" type: XXXX witch is the "item"

It should be possible that users ask or get information abouth that item.

so far no problem, but when looking deeper on this i have some serieuse problem.

I need to categorize the issues with are for example : power,display,connectivity,... failures.

Otherwise its kind of messy when all the posts are under one comment "item" .

It will be much cleaner when the users could post specific problems under the correct category.

 

I hope anyone could give me the right tip to go further

What you are trying to do sounds more like a forum than a blog, which is what k2 provides, the means to enter an item, then take comments on it. Please send a link to what youve already done

First of all thanks to reply this topic,

And a have now a forum with work great for years now ,but i want to rebuild the site and need more functions to it .

I like joomla sites to work with and even more like K2 for it. :)

Comments are the way i thought to get it,but i also get to the point that ist not possible maybe, or i need to find some other way to get it.(other then comments)

I only have made the item page with extra fields.Item = model nr:

aditional info:

 

extra field: Manufacturer:

extra field: Chassis

extra field: Fabrication date

extra field: ...

When is see the K2 catalog its that what i need,the only thing thats missing is the possibility that users could put in the service tips about the item. (Q&A on different kind of problems)

Not being able to see your system, i/we will just be guessing here.

Could you do something like this:

Top category = inventory (no extra fields)

          subcategory 1 = all parts that have (same extra fields)

                   Items here

                             sub sub category 1 (with items as questions and comments as answers)

          subcategory 2 = another group of parts (all with the same but different extra fields than sub cat 1)

                    Items here

                             sub sub category 2 etc etc
