I am working on big website upgrade and it will use K2 strongly for everything. I would like to launch this website in 2-3 weeks, by then K2 v2.5 Final is supposed to be released and I'm wondering what customizations I could do now with 2.4.1, that wouldn't dissapear after upgrading to 2.5. I'm going to use Jcomments and Jomsocial intergration with K2 and also would like to start templating K2 content. Will my all custimazations and changes dissapear if I upgrade to 2.5?

I'm in the same situation.

 

In fact, I don't know that a 2.5 version was planned, I search on the forum and in theory the 2.5 version should come out in April or March...

 

We are in May, and no news of developpers, even a little post to keep us informed and tell us what's new planned features...

 

I hope we'll have more news soon :/

As far as i have seen, 2.5 will be released soon. Plugins needed for it are on the way as well.

The 2.5 svn will load with 1.6, i have done that.

but - If i were building a new site today, i would use 1.5.22 and 2.4.1 with sigpro and allvideos..that are here and mature along with many other extensions and plugins for 1.5.

When the 2.5 is released I think it will be compatiable with both 1.5 and 1.6 joomla and you could upgrade to 2.5 as soon as the two main extensions are ready for it.

All the other integrations with other extensions like cb and jomsocial etc, will likely take more time to complete

But whats about new feature ? I don't want to change my Joomla 1.5 to 1.6 so I'm going to use K2 2.5 for Joomla 1.5.

 

I wait for a preview function, multi category, and a real adding item form (deleting the really annoying "pop-up-modal" form)

REPLY:  The Joomla works master knows something no one else wants to talk about .... I know I'm a little late in seeing this, but as the developer of Podcast Manager, I wanted to reach out and see if you were still having issues with integrating the plugins with K2. If there is something specific that I need to do to enable the plugins to integrate with K2, I may be able to accomplish that while I am working on my next version of the suite.

K2 - 2.5 (SVN) with Joomla 1.7 getting very close ... seems to be almost there Sept 4th, 2011, Fotis ( the MJ of Joom Extensions) is very close to getting it all together, above pre-dated issues regarding k2 and Joomla are no longer issues, some smaller remaining issues, but  I WOULD NOT BUILD WITH ANYTHING LOWER THAN 1.7 JOOM TODAY,  The MB podcast extension by MB at Flab.com- working fine with Joom 1.7, still not coming thru with K2 items but flly functional otherwise,

I do not think anything will dissappear, using K2 -2.5 svn on joom 1.7 clw
