Override order of items in item view. was created by David Muller

So, I duplicated my default folder from the components folder and placed this inside my templates folder in the correct place. I can select the new template from inside the K2 CMS, that's all good. However, the block of code that I have moved within the item.php file has no effect on the front end.

I want to have the video section directly under the full text section of the page. I copy and paste this chunk of code further up the page...

In theory my layout should change, so that the video is now underneath the itemFullText. Et viola! Nothing happens? Eh?

What am I doing wrong? Is this even possible?

Thanks for your help (oh yes, I quickly browsed through the threads on this but couldn't get a coherent answer).

what version of k2 are you using?

if 2.6.2 rename this code to item.php and place it into your override

I cut and pasted that code into item.php in my overrides folder and it had no effect whatsoever, the video is still under everything else (tags, twee link etc.)

Was it supposed to have moved the video? I admit, I didn't get round to comparing any differences yet (it's 11pm here and I'll do more tomorrow).

Mabee your override isnt working. Type some characters outside the php at the title...and see if they display

Yup, I typed a load of gibberish before the first <?php tag and nothing appeared at all. I wonder what occurs?

So WIlliam, I did some further investigation by stripping out elements of K2, this may help work out the issue.

If I do the following:

• Remove the folder templates/mytemplate/html/com_k2/default - no change to layout, no effect
• Remove the folder templates/mytemplate/html/com_k2/myfolder - no change to layout, no effect
• Remove the folder components/com_k2/templates/ - no effect (yes removing that ENTIRE folder has no effect, same goes for the other two above, if I remove the ENTIRE folder there is no effect)
• Remove folder components/com_k2/views/ - it breaks (500 Error, we may be getting somewhere!)
• Remove file components/com_k2/views/item/view.html.php - it breaks (500 error again)

So does this mean that K2 is pulling in default template information from someplace else?

I also tried removing both default folders from both components/com_k2 and html/templates and that resulted in a white page, so clearly it's pulling in one or both of these. I then tried altering both default files and again, no effect, zero change?

To say I'm puzzled is an understatement. PM incoming!

Finally got it to work.

I renamed item.php in components/com_k2/templates/default - to itembak.php

I renamed item.php in templates/mytemplate/html/com_k2/default - to itembak.php

I duplicated this file and made the changes I wanted, moving that video up, and renamed the file item.php, hit refresh and hey presto it worked.

However, if I put a copy of item.php inside the new template folder (in my case this is called, rather unimaginatively, 'video') and direct the category template selection to 'video' rather than 'default' after resetting the item.php file in 'default' back to its original state, there is no change to the view in the front end, the template simply calls the default folder despite the settings change in the K2 CMS.

For now I can simply leave the changed file in the default folder, but it does rather restrict me to a single layout (and I will need two in time, one for news and one for the video section).

Any help is appreciated.
