K2 is over riding my URLs was created by Douglas Rost
This is very weird... (to me)
For some reason, no matter what new menu I create, it puts "k2-information" into the URL, even for non-K2 items.

Example:
I create a menu item for a Breezing Forms called contact. The URL should be mysite.com/contact but instead it comes up as mysite.com/k2-information/contact

What happened??

Hello /k2-information/ is either part of your menu stucture (a parent menu maybe) or it is generated from a 3rd party extension.
K2 will not generate this pattern. Furthermore it will not affect other components.

It's not a parent menu, I even created a new menu just for it. This is a very small and simple site without many add-ons, I can't imagine what 3rd party extension would do this. It did it for regular Joomla articles, and for Breezing forms... but it just started doing it, and nothing recently has been added.

Time to start pulling hair out...

It could be your template's framework. I have seen like this before with 3rd party extensions or frameworks.

- I have changed the template to Beez and still get the same result.
- I have checked all of my menus, categories, and articles for aliases out of the norm and everything is fine there.
- I had Jsitemap Pro running and disabling it still does not help (in case that had something to do with it.)
- And I have cleared the cache
- I contacted Siteground to have them look at it and they went it and changed something that cleared up the extra URL. (I'm waiting back to hear from them what they did) But that didn't fix the issue on any new menu or menu item created.
- I went in to one of the menu items that they had corrected (alias: research2) and changed the alias to research and it once again inserted the extra url info.
- I don't know where else to look for anything/ any alias that is "hidden" that is causing this. It is effecting every menu added, along with every menu item added. I just added a contact listing (alias: test-c) and it still puts that in. How can K2 be effecting everything like this?

Have you contacted the template's developer.
Also K2 will NEVER affect urls of other extensions. This issue is not related to K2, an extension or the template's framework is affecting your URLs

Yes I have contacted them (JoomlaBamboo) and they are stumped as well. BUT, to take the template out of the equation, I have changed the template to Beez and I am getting the same result. I have found that if I create the menu item, and then select the rebuild option, it corrects the error. If I then go back into the menu item and change anything about it, once I save it again the problem comes back, so then I have to select the rebuild option again.

Some frameworks have plugins bundled. Even if you change the template, these plugins still remain active.
It could be one of them.
