Fuzzy Search for K2 was created by Michael Yaeger
I am trying to see if there is some way to implement a "fuzzy search" for the K2 search module. If a user misspells a word in the search, no results show up. The only thing I could come up with was this article which suggests use of SOUNDEX:

A quick and dirty fix is to put all possible misspellings in a comma separated list in the “META Keywords” field for each item. However, this doesn't add any "intelligence" and doesn't cover all possible misspellings (ones not in the keywords).

Hello Michael,

Meta keyword would not affect your Google Ranking, but a cleaner solution would be to use a custom (GSE) Google Search Engine integration.

I've tried GSE in the past and it's LACK of being a "cleaner solution" (read: white label) is the primary contributor to no adoption.

Yes, it is not the most adjustable solution.
It can be styled but a lot of ugly !importants are needed.

I created an extra field named "K2 Keywords" to provide Fuzzy Keywords ONLY for the K2 search (the field is never displayed on the frontend of the website.

To help create fuzzy keywords, you could always use an automated tool like this:
tools.seobook.com/spelling/keywords-typos.cgi

Won't this affect your site's SEO?
It could lead to issues since, Google might treat it as hidden text.

No, because the extra field is not being rendered on the front end.

I do not use the K2 extra field block to render my extra fields.
I render each extra field when and where needed.

By doing such, I am able to fully control each point of data on my site.
Having such granular content control is why I chose K2 :)
