Images at getting bigger during upload was created by Thomas Thrane

Hi

I'm trying to optimize my website and making optimized images all around.
I have set K2 XL image to 1.200 px wide.
When I upload an optimized image, which is also 1.200 pixel wide and a size of 115 kb, then I see the XL-image in the cache folder now is nearly 300 kb!?

How do I fix this?

Hello Thomas,

You need to reduce the quality of the images a bit.
100 is a bit too much and PHP will create large images.
A value of 75 - 80 would be ideal.

PS. In order to recreate the image sizes you need to reupload the image.

Thanks, but I don't want 80% of the quality uploaded - I already optimized the big image.

PHP's GD library will increase the size of the images if the quality is set above 80. Sadly, this is how this library works.

To be honest the difference between 80 and 100 is so minimal that the excess size is not worth it imo.

Then the default setting will be used which is 75.
