Display full article in category description? was created by Bam Bam
Hey everybody,
I'm using K2 2.7.1 on my Joomla-Site with the JAK2 search & filter plugin.
Unfortunately JAK2 does not search in the category description, which is in my case necessary. I already got some template-overrides and I thought of adding some articles in K2 to use them as category description. But I don't know how to implement the full article (not a link to it) in the category description via override without a MySQL-query.
Got anyone a hint for me / Is it possible?
Matthew.

Hello,
No queries are required, you can create a new template override where all links are removed.
getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/174-templating-with-k2-and-the-concepts-of-sub-templates

Thanks for answering, but you got me wrong.
Instead of a category description I'd like to show a specific article in the category description position. So the filter plugin can access the description, too. Do you know what I mean?

You can place a module and have it render there.
You can use {loadmodule} or {loadposition}.
If the position is not rendering then you might need to manually trigger the content plugins.

Hm. I had this on my mind, too. But the search plugin doesn't work on modules. It works only with K2 articles. That's why I asked for replacing a category description with a K2 article. ;)

K2's search will not work there since the results will only display items.
The only (easy) workaround would be to use a Google search integration which will search throughout your site.

That's not what I looked for, but thanks for the info.
It is necessary for me to use "JAK2 search & filter plugin". I'll try something else via php to get that work.
Thanks for your patience.

What patience?
You are asking legitimate questions here :) no need to thank me.
Unfortunately I cannot answer the last question since I have not used that extension in the past.
I think some basic PHP (a select if the category is xxx) can solve this issue quite easily template wise, but once again I am not really familiar with that extension. Furthermore the description in the database would still be empty or have the {loadposition} / {loadmodule} format.
I assume, again without having the full grasp, that you would need to enter the description in the database.
I think that the extension's dev will be able to provide more accurate info since I can only offer general knowledge and guesses.
