Like many others I am using sh404SEF to create my URLs and the Joomlaworks plugin for supporting K2 in sh404SEF.
Unfortunately sh404SEF will not be ported to Joomla 4 and instead be replaced with the new extension 4SEF.

So are you planning an update for the K2 Plugin to work with 4SEF?

4SEF has built-in K2 support if I recall correctly.

Ok, after a short intermezzo with SEF4 I realised that SEF4 works with k2 of course, but the handling of the generated URLs is not as good as with the k2 plugin and sh404SEF, for example there is no option to change the URL prefix for users ... So please have a look and consider an update of the plugin for SEF – I would pay for it :-)

I have asked the SEF4 support "I am missing the option to "Include categories in URL" for my k2 extension in the settings" and this is what they answered me:

"There is no such configuration option in sh404SEF either. K2 support for sh404SEF is in K2 itselft, we did not provide any support for it.

K2 has built a separate plugin to provide support for sh404SEF and they'll need to update it to the new plugin format in 4SEF. Not a huge work but it needs to be done. I have not had any contact yet with K2 people recently. Last time we were in touch7-8 months ago, they said they wanted to work on K2 for Joomla 4 but that has not materialized yet so I don't know what's their plan at the moment and if they are still willing to put effort there. Have you contacted them about this?"

Well, so have you any plans on updating the k2-plugin for SEF4 ?

Is this still an issue? I recently received the same reply from 4SEF as you posted above almost a year ago.

If I recall correctly, 4SEF does not require a special plugin to work with K2.

I received a reply by Yannick confirming that 4SEF imports all the sh404sef urls with no problem and they work as before.

However, he said that any new K2 items would not be generated as search engine friendly. He hinted that a new plugin for 4SEF was needed.

Can the latest version of K2 handle search engine friendly urls on its own?

Any advice to move forward is welcome.
