I tried upgrading to J4 but the process fails since I have a lot of components/plugins that seem to stop the process.
I could not get rid of all the warnings of the update checker.
I'm thinking of starting with a fresh joomla 4 install, with a compatible template and then I would like to transfer the k2 items from old j3 site to j4 site.
I know this is possible and I had considered that in the past. Has anyone tried that? Any resources that could help?

We recently did this - except we started with a fresh J3 install, moved over just the database tables and some image files etc, and then installed just the components we chose to keep - which were compatible with J4. (This is also the point to migrate from K2 to com_content if you decide to do this, as there are no migration tools for K2 on J4.)

From there, we upgraded to J4 with a fresh template.

Tables for some components change between J3 and J4, so this method is safer than trying to work with a fresh install of J4.

I love K2 but I have used the SP Page Builder integration in hundreds of K2 articles. And SP Page builder has stopped supporting K2. Now I have to upgrade to J4, and it's a real dilemma as to what to do.

Please Fotis make your magik and give us a new version of the MOST useful Joomla extension for Joomla 5! Every time i use joomla article system in J5 i punch my screen thinking how easy was everythink in k2 like template overide, custom templating and all the stracture. Please make us happy again and of course make it with subscription if you want.

This fork works fine on Joomla 4. Also K2ForJ4 works on Joomla 5 without any problems if the backward compatibility plugin is enabled. The developers promise to make K2ForJ4 native for Joomla 5 in the near future. 

I recommend it to everyone. Free. You will migrate all the content of the official K2 version to Joomla 4 and Joomla 5 without any trouble.

unfortunately, I use an additional component for automatic email sending. There is no official update for k2 j4. I have to wait off k2 update
