Make sure this file:
modules/mod_jw_srfr/simplepie.inc

has 755 or 777 permissions...

I'm having the same problem when I try to upload any kind of file. My joomla version is 1.5.26. Very strange because I didn't change a thing...

make sure you don't have an line break after your rss feed because the module interprets it as a feed and tries to open it. that solved the problem in my case.
