Error loading media: File could not be played was created by Irene Sutherland
Hi there,

I'm trying to get an m4a audio file made using Mac's Garageband to play using AllVideos.

I've followed the AllVideos instructions here very closely to no avail :
  • The file at the server at the following URL images/audio/YogaForPregnancy/TestRecording.m4p
  • The "Local Audio Folder" setting is images/audio
  • This is the code: {mp4}YogaForPregnancy/TestRecording{/mp4}

I have set up a test article but I'm unable to provide a link because your system detected it as spam.

Maybe I'll be able to send it to you in a reply.

I'm hosting the site at Rochen - so all server-side software would be up to date.

Could it be a problem with using Garageband. Does Apple generate files with a special codex??

Hope you get help me

Regards

Irene

Hi,

Post the link without the http part and it should pass the spam check.

Thanks for getting back to me Lefteris

Here are the URLs

calmbeginnings.net.au/new-site/bookings/allvideos-test

As the development site folder is password protected - I have tested AllVideos without the password protection and I get the same behaviour.

Username: allvideos
Password: allvideos@2015

I have tested AllVideos with an m3p file (also viewable at calmbeginnings.net.au/new-site/bookings/allvideos-test) and it works.

Are you sure that the video exists on your server? It gives a 404 error calmbeginnings.net.au/new-site/images/videos/YogaForPregnancy/TestRecording.mp4 . Ensure that the video is there.

I can't seem to get my video to work in IE 11 and in Safari 5.1. In IE I get an "Error loading media: File could not be played" message. In Safari I just get the constant loading and nothing happens.

My machine is running on Windows 7. Here is my link:

So I decided to change the file type to a mp4 but I still get the same results. It works fine in Chrome and Firefox but a no go in IE. Also an update to my previous post. It does work in my Safari browers but it takes awhile to download before it starts playing.

Anyone know why my mp4 and m4v files won't run in IE?

Does it have H.264 compression?
Only mp4/H.264 are cross-browser compatible (latest FF only.)

Krikor - Thank you for the response. I had just received the videos second hand so I am not sure if it has H.264 compression. Is there a way I can find out, and how can I format it so it does have H.264 compression?

You could check for online tools that check for the codec.
If you want 100% cross browser compatibility and good quality you could upload it to YouTube or Vimeo.

Thanks Krikor, however we have some videos that we don't want the public to have access to. This would be why we would need to host it remotely.

Can you or someone point me to a mp4 file that will play under IE with this plugin? That's not hosted on a third party such as YouTube or Vimeo.
