Forgot to mention I even updated the K2 to 2.x.69 but still does not work
however the update messed up my Blog layout which I found strange

It is possible that you edited core files instead of overriding them.
Please send me a screenshot of the K2 User's group permission.
Finally make sure that that user belongs to that user group.
