1) Create a group with editing rights to the K2 category that holds the article to edit; and publish it
2) Add yourself to that group
3) Ensure Frontend editing is turned on in parameters (default is on)
4) Login in front end using same Id as used in backend to create the post you want to edit.
5) Navigate to the K2 article
6) Look for 'Edit Item' Text under title, rather than more familiar edit icon.

/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&task=add&tmpl=component
Adding this to a normal Joomla menu seems to work for me.

The problem for me was re-assigning a user to a new user group, I couldn't get the K2 menus and front-end editing capabilities to work while keeping a user assigned to the default "Registered" user group.
Although this seems a bit counter productive having to assign users to a specific user group rather than keeping the default joomla registered group, Or am I missing something when I create a user through the front end which would allow it to be automatically added to a K2 user group?

I hit the same issue and have added feature requests for K2. But at present it seems that K2 has a partial new access control system. For front end editing use you need to apply K2 users to a K2 group that has rights to edit a certain K2 category.
The weaknesses I see are that ...
A user can only be in 1 K2Group (a shame, sooo much more powerful if a user could be more than one Group)
And its not possible yet to set a sync. between Joomla User Groups and any K2 groups. Without this you will have to add and delete users manually for K2. It would be better if (for example) if you could create a K2 Publisher Group and K2 Editor Group and set these to automatically sync with Joomla Publishers and Editors. You would not want this on all K2 groups but it would be very useful and would probably the default setting for most sites.

The link you want is a standard K2 User Page (Blog).
Its easy to set up in the standard Joomla menu setup. The URL is
../index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=[whatever user ID you want]

I don't have the button to edit or add a new article in the frontend. I am able to add or edit in the backend but not in the frontend. I have followed your instructions and also setup your links to
../index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&task=user&id=[whatever user ID you want] and
/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&task=add&tmpl=component
I have created one article in the backend. This one is shown using the links above but I can't edit them in the frontend. I have gone trough your six steps again but could not find any differences.
I have uninstalled K2 and installed the newest version checking weather I had to delete some tables left in the database but could not find any.
I switched to english in the frontend to check if I don't see the text "Edit item" because of now translation or what ever reason. I tested the links above with a different template in case my template would hide the link but there was still nothing to see.
Any idea what I could check else or how I could find the buttons to edit or add an article?
Thanks for any help.
Dirk

Hostile said:I'm at a loss here. I've been doing I think everything that has been mentioned and nothing has worked. I just keep getting this error when I click on Add New Item on the frontend. I'm sure it is an oversight on my end. I've gone over everything set up user groups, user settings, k2 front end on. Still nothing.

Found out that frontend editing is only possible if Joomfish is not installed.
So Feature request should be frontend editing when Joomfish is installed.
Does sombebody know if this be part of the next release?

Sorry for the mistakes of English, I'm Brazilian. The solution of mtif worked for me, but I had a problem only with the translation of K2. In the back end the Portuguese translation is perfect, but the front end some items are in English. Does anyone know how can I fix this?
