I have tried a couple of times now and both times threw up the same issue

-1 - An error has occurred.

It was not possible to copy the selected file.

Obviously its quite important I can get K2 upgraded now so anyone else had this issue and what was the fix please?

The only thing I can think of is to change the directory and file permissions but I dont fancy leaving my site open to attack.

Did that work then? I tried to delete the old k2 folders but still get this error. No idea? Maybe need to erase the database as well?

I have not tried it yet, deleting the k2 folders is not an option for me as uninstalling the component deletes my database which is quite large.

Ok I managed to re-install it now at least by manually deleting all the com_k2 folders

Great stuff! I am waiting on a response from a DEV though as this may be an issue for a lot of people and an official post explaining the best way to do this would be better than messing up peoples sites.

cheers

Hi. If your folders are not writable then K2 ( and of course any other extension ) will not be able to apply an upgrade that requires overwriting some files and folders.

I'm having this problem as well trying to upgrade from v.2.0 (Aug 6) to v.2.1 (Sept 9). My permissions are all listed as "writable".

Any other ideas why this would be happening?

Solved my -1- error, and it does seem to be related to permissions. When I successfully enabled the FTP layer in Joomla > Global Configuration> Server settings, my update for K2 from 2.0 > 2.1 installed.
