I'm a web designer/developer from Viet Nam.
I have an extreme impress at first time using K2 about more than 3 months ago, especialy it's free and so powerfull. But when K2 goes stable, it's still have something to discuss. In my opinion, Joomla Works team should only focus on the "core"/framework of K2, and let the template & custom fields be the 3rd party extensions (doesn't matter if it's paid or free), let the community make it more flexible. I think the problem here is only in the custom fields and permission. I'm going to build some website for my clients, and of course, using K2, but still wonder about it's future. If Joomla Works tems have other plans of this powerfull extension, please let the commmunity know. And in my opinion, i have some ideals about the custom fields (that I think) to make it more flexible:
- Should be developed as 3rd party extensions
- Should have a "parent" custom fields, helpfull and so power for filtered (step by step) search option, for example in real estate or shopping-cart website
- Option for categories, category and item view (show or not)
- Option for search module (show or not)
- Option with user permission
- Option as multi-column
- More types: calendar, checkbox with images, payment system ...
- Multi-group for each category, and each group should be as tab
And some other ideals in template:
- Should be developed as 3rd party extensions
- Option categories/category and item view
