I recently installed the K2 component in a Joomla 1.5 installation on a Windows Server 2003 machine, running PHP 5.2.11. I am encountering the following errors, which I have never seen before when I have used K2:

I get this in the backend of Joomla when trying to add a new category to K2:

Fatal error: Cannot access private property TableCategories::$option in C:\WebSites\RDS\libraries\joomla\database\table.php on line 175

I get this when I click on any article in the frontend of the K2 component:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_substr() in C:\WebSites\RDS\components\com_k2\views\item\view.html.php on line 285

I know this is a PHP problem, but I have looked everywhere and am stumped as to how to fix it. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. Regarding the second error you should enable the PHP's Multibyte String Functions. Now for the first error...i have no idea. What version of Joomla! are you using?

I'm using 1.5.11. And I thought I had tried enabling the Multibyte String Functions, but I'll give it another try.
