I really like K2,but i stopped it because the search isn't working well. Look at this example :I have article ( in k2)  with title                         "Community"    and  text                                        "Here is the community section on this website."When i type in the seach field      " community"  it finds the article   but if i type  "comm"     or    "unity" no results are available.If i create article  in Joomla with the same title and text and i try the same things results are available.I can't understund why K2 is finding only the FULL WORDS and not parts of them.Like you saw, you can find    "tomatos"   if you type the full word, but no results are available if you type "toma"   or   "atos"   or    "matos"   or   "omatos"  or "tomato".  My feature request is to fix this. An other feature request is to "export content " from k2 into joomla. Now i created more than 70 articles and i want to move them into joomla again,because of the search.And now i have to copy all the content......I am waiting for your answer.Best regards, KirilMy website   Sorry for my bad english...

First i was using joomla's seach module. AFter that i tried k2_tools and no results after all. I have installed rockettheme's ajax search and it finds some of the results,but only the full words,like the example with the "tomatos". I was other pople with similar problem. The search in 2.1 was working very well. When are you going to release 2.3 and is there improvments for the search ?

An other problem with the titles-even the k2_tools can't find the title if several articles have the same title.

I saw that other people in the community have problem with the search.

This should be done. Because if i have article,named "cars" and the user type in the search field only the word "car" he won't receive results.

There are plenty of users reporting problems with K2 search, but maybe more that report it is working, this is a combination of how the Joomla environment is used, per site.

Do you have a link to the site which is causing this issue as I would like to personally take a look for you.

razberi.info/za-nas This is a fresh instalation of k2. I installed it 15 minutes ago. There is only one article. The k2 tools_search is on the right-bottom of the page. Now i don't receive any results. I have cleared the cache and there arren't results. This is why i stopped k2-because of the search.

Sorry,but i can't just give you my passwords. I can't what you can change from my admin panel. There are not settings for the search,except for the google integration...

Maybe you can give me a hint here. I have 2 problems with k2 search : How can I restrict the search to a particular category and how do I sort the results alphabetically, because it always displays it reverse alphabetical.

i have the same problem but i substitute the file plugin search whit k2.php version 2.1 and work fine.
search using the plugin for version 2.1 the research on the item is performed correctly.

to disable the search ceckbox joomla just go about managing and disabling plugins:
Search - Categories
Search - Sections
Search - Content

K2 Ver 2.2 search plug in is not working in full text search but using ver 2.1 file with ver 2.2 is working fine without any problem. In ver 2.2 there is google search integration built in,

Please refer other thread to get information. Please herewith find a old version (K2 ver 2.1) of search plug in file.
Please replace this file in your plugins/plg_k2_search directory and remove current k2.php file.
Please do the plug in settings as usual.
To enable google search please enable it in k2 global parameter settings. I will hope it will work for you.

This really doesn't have much to do with your present problem, but since you mentioned it...

I develop sites live because my client is 8,000 miles away and we develop over the phone live because it is faster than emailing back and forth. I have a little trick I accidentally learned from some Turkish "hackers", as they call themselves. Simply put an index.html page in your root directory with some text about your site being under construction. In the head put code from this url:

www.robotstxt.org/meta.html

This should keep the robots out, the honest ones anyways. After you create this page, when someone goes to your URL of your site they will see this page because browsers search for index.html before index.php

In your menu put a temporary "home" item with an external UIRL of your domain name / index.php In your case it would be www.ways2reuse.com/index.php This way you can play around on your site without being indexed. when you are ready to go live, simply delete the index.html file and the temporary menu item and you are good to go!
