Google maps extension problems was created by Mark Banks
Simon, I've come across two problems with the K2Joom google maps extension.1. When inserting decimalised Lat & Long co-ordinates from Google maps for locations in Crete (Greece) we've found that the displayed map shows an unrelated spot on the globe. We've worked around it by switching the Google Latitude coordinate into the extensions Longitude field and the same with the Lon coordinate into the Lat field. The resulting map image then displays correctly. Anyone else come across this problem, or is it just a Cretan thing??2. Conflict with core K2 Content Module. There needs to a be an option 'not to display maps' when using the K2 Content Module.Using the K2 Content Module, we've set up a K2 article list from a K2 category to display as a right side module - all options apart from article title are set to hide. On page load, the article list displays as expected. When any of the article titles are clicked, the corresponding article is displayed as expected, BUT the K2 content module displays the title and the Google map for each listing. As the maps are required by the client, this renders the K2 Content Module unusable for this particular setting.3. IF the same logic/process has been used for the MultiAds extension, it may behave in the same manner, with the ads being displayed in the module.RegardsMark

Simon - i've set up a couple of demo pages illustrating the problems described in the first post.

www.mb-workshop.com/properties/projects

The two articles are K2 map test and K2 map test 2.

Hi Mark,

Seems that my post was not saved.

Yes, this is a known issue and is being looked at.
This is caused when K2 modules are used as there is no disable plugins option.

I am hoping to have some news on a modification to the modules over the weekend, then will submit to K2 for inclusion in next SVN release.

Cheers for the update Simon.
Any thoughts on the reversed Lat/Long co-ordinates issue?

Oh yes, i had covered that one.

You should be able to modify the php and change the order between lat and long.
Hope to have an update soon.

Hey Simon,

I don't know if you've received them or not, but I've sent you updates to the plugin via email that fixes the latitude reversal plus a few other small things.

I also spoke with you briefly about a plugin that takes all the co-ordinates entered using your plugin and plots them out on a map... I've got a working version (you can see it on home page of www.gatorglob.com), however there are a few things I want to do to it before it's released. I'll send it over when it's ready if you are interested.

All the best
Nick

Hi Nick

Yes, got the mail etc, waiting on your updated version and will use that as a replacement for the existing K2 Maps Plugin.

Hey Simon,

My version doesn't replace what you've done, they work together. Your plugin allows us to set the co-ordinates on the K2 item. I just created a new module that takes that data, and plots it on the map. So you don't need to hold your end up for me.
