Here is my first component for K2 as a prerelease with module, it's not only a substitute for the joomla weblinks.
attach web links to K2 categories
use media types (icons look of media types)
a better pathway for the category component view
a module that shows web links with K2 categories
joomlashare.de/k2-extensions
For more information take a look in the readme.txt and please test it.

I have K2 web links with 4 categories, one of which has 2 subcategories. When I display K2 web links as menu item of type category layout, I see the names of all the categories that have no subcategories, and then the names of the subcategories, but not the name of the parent category that has two subcategories.
The tree is:
Category1
Category2
Category3
Cateogory4
Cat4-sub1
Cat4-sub2
But the menu shows only
Category1
Category2
Category3Cat4-sub1
Cat4-sub2
Also, my category descriptions are not showing even though I selected them to SHOW

Hi Sandra,
thank you for your remarks.
For the second issue I need a little more space of time, but I will fix it soon.
The first issue is fixed, download the component again, uninstall k2weblinks and then new install, all link data remain untouched.
