I was following another thread to make "children category" vanish under the main category.

As per the advice I edited the "category.php" file ('templates/"yourtemplate"/html/com_k2/templates/default/category.php') and edited out the line "itemListCategories" under h3 - but then all the items (everything) vanished under the main category.

 

So I went back into the category.php file removed the comments tag but still same situation. Can I resent this file somehow?

 

I know category.php also exists under the /home/domain/public_html/components....directory, can I use that copy it over the current the directory under 'templates/"yourtemplate"/html/com_k2/templates/default/category.php'

The files are attached below.  The file category.old is the one I edited but despite undoing the changes it still has the problems. So I copied the category.php from the other directory (/home/domain/public_html/components) but still not luck. 

 

So I have attached both the files.

The category.php should work. I don't see anything missing or wrong. Is it possible to provide a link with a category list?

Yes here it is - www.radicalviews.org/index.php?option=com_k2&view=latest&layout=latest&Itemid=3   This shows nothing under "Islam" 

Whereas the others work ok - for example - www.radicalviews.org/index.php?option=com_k2&view=itemlist&layout=category&task=category&id=7&Itemid=48

The file is the same though, so maybe something else is wrong for the first case "Islam" category. Check the parameters of this category and compare them with the parameters of the other case.

yeah I did that, but I am just thinking of un-installing it and reinstalling it again - probably on Joomla 1.6

K2 isn't released for Joomla 1.6 yet, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Yeah I reinstalled it and it seems to be normal now but my original problem is still there. How can I make the "Children Category" vanish? I fear or loath to edit the category.php file again.

What you need is only the title "Children Category" to be gone?

Yeah its annoying - I am not sure why K2 has not eliminated this. It just looks ugly and I dont think anyone would want to keep that.

Sent me the correct category.php file and I will do it for you.

I am sending the one from template directory. I am sure that is the correct one. Please can you tell me which line you edit.  I know its the one related to "itemListSubCategories", if you could just put your initial or something that way I know you did that line.

I edited with a php comment the line 77. Check the file.
