i am creating site which is based on k2 component - site has quite a lot categories >1000. everything is working ok, only loading times are big - about 10-20 seconds. what could be the problem and how could i solve this?

I guess, it can't be because of social bookmarking, because there is no one..

Pagination of categories is implemented by drop-down menu on top side of the site.

Slow boot time started after creating those categories.

Turnet it on - it kind of helped but for just few seconds per load - site is still taking huge time to load.

Are there some other ideas?

Analise with www.webpagetest.org/ then turn on cache plugin, optimize images and your .htaccess file, also you can use extensions like this and read this
