I notice at the top of my item page, a row of grey bullets next to the term "Social sharing" and each bullet appears to be a link to a social media website. Are these supposed to be bullets or actual icons? 

There is a list of icons that represents each social sharing site. Please see the image attached.

It is "live" in the sense that it is not currently password protected but far from complete. Added to the above, the font resize, print and email links also don't appear. They are all enabled in the parameters. Am I supposed to add something to 'Social button' code?

Yes. I was ftping files to places I should not have been.
