How to migrate from Joomla!1.5 + K2 2.4 to Joomla!1.7 + K2 2.5? was created by Adamo
Finally, after days and days of discussions and hypotesis (community.getk2.org/forum/topics/where-and-when-i-can-download-1) k2 2.5 was released as RC.
I'd like to start to migrate from joomla 1.5 to joomla 1.7 + K2 2.5 RC.
How can i do this?
I don't find any migration procedure.
I should also operate directly on db tables but i'm not sure it will work correctly.
Is there anyone who could help me telling other info?

I too would like to know how to do this. I've done some experimentation with importing my K2 database, and although it did bring my content items into J1.7/K2 2.5, it rendered my K2 completely non-functional.

Just tested a migration on local host. I would do some research prior to updating to be sure that your template, and all the extensions, modules, and plugins that you are using are available for 1.7. If they are not at best you will end up with a new site with your data tables intact and a good bit of work to do.
Backup your site {akeebabackup}
Upgrade your 1.5 site to 1.5.23 joomla
Upgrade your k2 2.4.1 to k2 2.5
get jupgrade
enable plugin motools upgrade
run jupgrade
test your new site with the link provided
delete all the files and folders in your sites root EXCEPT Jupgrade directory
Copy the contents of Jupgrade to your sites root directory
load your site
Install the 1.7 templates, extensions, and plugins that you are using
A very good tutorial on upgrade can be foundhere
If you get 403 errors on k2 items, turn sef off
Getting K2 from 1.5 to 1.7 is a snap and the easiest part.

If for some reason the jUpdate button does not function correctly, try ctrl-shift-r and refresh the page and it will magically come to life
