Changing language doesn't work was created by Mats Arvendal
Versions, Joomla 2.5.7 /K2 2.5.7
Problem: I have installed the Swedish language files but only backend works. In frontend the english language still shows.
This seems like some kind of silly mistake I must have made but I can't figure out what's causing it.
- Swedish is active as the website's backend and frontend language.( I even created SE as content lnguage although the language switch is not in use)
- All K2 files are in place and they are "official" (no homemade translation)
Anyone suggestion for a solution is greatly appreciated.

Hi. Do you mean that the content is not translated or the interface? The content is not translated automatically you need to translate it. The interface should change to Swedish. Create a menu link to Swedish content. Remember to select the language of the menu link in the appropriate field.

Thanks for your reply.
It's the interface that stays English even though I have installed the Swedish language files.
But there's something really weird going on. I am beginning to believe that there must be some error in my imported K2-tables. I am upgrading from 1.5 to 2.5 and the first attempt to do it via JUpgrade didn't work, so I imported each K2-table into a Joomla 2.5 installation (with editing of some of the tables). Everything works in the new website, except the language interface.
Yesterday I made another Joomla 2.5 installation where the language interface works, so it has to be something with the imported db-tables. I realize now that it has nothing to do with K2. I'll check the db tables further.
I will post my findings here if I find anything that may be of use for someone else.

Problem solved!
It was the imported K2-items and K2-categories tables in the MySQL db that caused the trouble. Although the number and names of the fields are the same between K2 for Joomla 1.5 and 2.5, there are content differences that needs to be edited (for example make sure there's a value in the column "language").

Hi,
Check this first:
There's a new vocabulary in current compared with previous K2 language files. An example from xx-XX.com_K2.ini of the latest version:
K2_ACCOUNT_DETAILS
is called ACCOUNT_DETAILS in older versions.
So if you are using template overrides there's a possibility that these old codes are used in those files (if you have copied them from the old site).

Hi,
I didn't use Jupgrade so I have no clue what might have happened. All I know is Jupgrade is not as straight forward as one would like.

For anyone having translation issues, please enable the Language Debugger through Joomla! configuration to see what language files are loaded, which variables are not translated etc.
