Error 500 after update to K2 2.6.1

Error 500 after update to K2 2.6.1 was created by Seth Hoffman
Hi There,
Today I updated the K2 version of my website (newfrontierschurch.com) to 2.6.1. I am currently running Joomla version 2.5.7. When I go to save an article, I get an error 500. I checked the error logs and it appears that it is trying to save the file somewhere other than the httpdocs root. Has anyone else experienced this or can give me some feedback? I am having no trouble saving normal Joomla articles or doing anything outside k2 so it seems pretty specific to this extension.

when you save a new k2 item, a record is inserted into the database on your server K2_items, not a file
You may be able to turn error reporting to highest and get another error that may lead you in the direction of the error

Hi William,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. Unfortunately the error reporting didn't help. Any other ideas? I am still unable to add or edit k2 items since updating to 2.6.1. Obviously that's a big problem. Any other suggestions would be really helpful!

It's an issue with Joomla! Smart Search. Try to use K2 SVN version at getk2.org/assets/svn. If that does not fix your issue you can just go to plugins and disable the "Smart Search - K2" plugin. Please let me know about what happened.

In my installation i got a 500 HTTP error because i didn't had the correct /logs and /tmp paths in Joomla main configuration. After i had fixed this the categories saved.
