I would try copying YoursiteRoot/modules/mod_k2_users/tmpl/default/default.php to
YourSiteRoot/templates/YourTemplateName/html/mod_k2_users/default.php first
Make a change to the new file
test
If it doesnt work, move it down another directory ie default/default.php
