Same item, different URL was created by Ewoud Vreugdenhil
Hi there,
I just re-launched my website www.gamecritics.eu. I started using K2 for articles instead of Jreviews.
I just only now saw that the same item can have different url's. It depends on from where the item is accessed. On my homepage I have all the categories selected, so all news items are displayed on the homepage. But I have also a menu and submenu's for the news categories 'Nieuws', 'Screenshots' and 'Videos'. If I access the article from there, it generates a different URL. Especially the URL from the homepage is not the most nice URL. For example:
gamecritics.eu/nl/component/k2/item/884-forza-horizon-february-jalopnik-car-pack-trailer
The part /component/k2 is what I am referring to when I mean not nice looking.
Next all of this, the Menu on top keep showing Home as active. And, also the modules that I have assigned to the different categories are not shown.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
Thanks
Ewoud

The solution seems to be in the 2.6.4 version. I read the
blog
about this release and now it works for me.
Others who have the same problem, start reading from: a) kill duplicate URLs created for tags and users once and for all
There is only one new problem. The template override when reading an article, is not working. I had to rename the item.php in websiteroot/components/com_k2/templates/default so it is not loaded anymore. And it now loads the override.
So it seems like that the template override does not work with this new advanced Sef settings.
Can anybody confirm that?

If you have examples and can confirm that you should go back to the blog item about 2.6.4 and create a bug report with info there
I haven't had time to check the new package yet
Also, please post details about your install here so we can try to replicate it

I'm not sure what you exactly mean by creating a bug report here and go back to blog item. How can I create a bug report and where do I go back to 'blog item'.
I just upgraded to version 2.6.5. So the item.php is active again in websiteroot/components/com_k2/templates/default. So also the problem is back. You can check any item in my website, they now all have the wrong layout. I have used the Extreme template from themexpert. You can check demo.themexpert.com. On top select the Extreme templaten. Then just open the item Fast and Lightweight and you will see how the layout should look like in item view.
Please let me know if you need more or other info.
