hi i need your help finding a way to do this or recommend on a module that does the following:
i know that you can display a list of specific items or a list of specific categories but not both in the same list but my client wants to display a dynamic list of titles(links) side by side to both categories and items pages.
for example let say we have 2 different categories A and B each with 2 different items.1 and 2
the client could choose to display in this module a "mixed" list.
a title(link) to category A page ,and beneath it a title(link) to specific item(article page) from category B item 2 (article page) etc'.....


how can it be done?

The only way I can think of it is to create a new menu with aliases to categories but this will

is it bad?

For categories no provided you use an alias menu item.
Items however will have their own url and not the default /category/item/id-title structure.

This means they will be indexed with a different URL and once you unpublish them you will get a lot of 404 errors. If you use a menu solution, do not unpublish your items instead move them to another (hidden) menu.

i have a menu model which has its own menu with menu items and when you want to change
the titles/links you just change the items in the menu admin page.
