This only happens if you have the system plugin disabled.
Enable the plugin and K2 will work properly.

The same problem, the same error with K2 2.6.9 and Joomla 3.4.1 (fresh install, no third-party extensions).

Set error reporting to "Development" in Joomla's Global Configuration, go to site.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_k2, we get
Notice: Use of undefined constant K2_JVERSION - assumed 'K2_JVERSION' in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 20 Notice: Use of undefined constant DS - assumed 'DS' in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 38 Notice: Use of undefined constant DS - assumed 'DS' in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 38 Notice: Use of undefined constant DS - assumed 'DS' in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 38 Notice: Use of undefined constant DS - assumed 'DS' in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 38 Fatal error: Class 'K2HelperPermissions' not found in administrator/components/com_k2/k2.php on line 39

The same problem happens with K2 2.6.6, 2.6.7, 2.6.8.

However, if you use an older version of Joomla, everything is good.

To work around, I installed Joomla 3.2, installed K2 2.6.9, everything was successful, then update to Joomla 3.4.1. Now K2 works. This solution can only be used if you start a new site/project which uses K2. If you already have a site with lots of installed extensions and data, this solution is not possible.

I hope this info is helpful.

Class 'K2Table' not found

Category: English K2 Community

The error reads:
Fatal error: Class 'K2Table' not found in /home/username/public_html/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2user.php on line 14

Lines 10 to 18 reads:
10 // no direct access 11 defined('_JEXEC') or die; 12 13 class TableK2User extends K2Table[/li] 14 { 15 16 var $id = null; 17 var $userID = null; 18 var $userName = null;

and so on.
  1. I already searched Googlenet, Internet, and K2 (here) and the question is asked, but there are no answers yet - has anyone found a fix in the last 4 years?
  2. K2 version = K2 v2.6.9
  3. using Joomla 2.5.7
  4. This was working until last night.

K2 Fatal Error! Help!

Category: English K2 Community

I did a build recently and all is well with the development on local development on my machine. However, when the site is move to my public server the front end looks fine but the admin throws this error:

Fatal error: Class K2ModelCpanel cannot extend from interface JModel in /home/nebulac0/public_html/administrator/components/com_k2/models/cpanel.php on line 18

Is anyone familiar with this error. The K2 component is up to date.

With K2 system plugin enabled, user registration crashes

Category: English K2 Community

From the frontend when a create account is submitted, the page turns into a code page with message of:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'RuntimeException' with message 'Unknown column 'header' in 'field list' SQL=SELECT `new_url`,`header`,`published` FROM `alrvw_redirect_links` WHERE `old_url` = 'thymewisper.com/index.php/component/users/' LIMIT 0, 1' in /home4/thymewis/public_html/libraries/joomla/database/driver/mysqli.php:610 Stack trace: #0 /home4/thymewis/public_html/libraries/joomla/database/driver.php(1239): JDatabaseDriverMysqli->execute() #1 /home4/thymewis/public_html/plugins/system/redirect/redirect.php(86): JDatabaseDriver->loadObject() #2 [internal function]: PlgSystemRedirect::handleError(Object(Exception)) #3 {main} thrown in /home4/thymewis/public_html/libraries/joomla/database/driver/mysqli.php on line 610

If I disable the system redirect plugin, the submission turns into the error 404 page.

If I enable system direct plugin and disable system k2 plugin, the submission is successful.

I prefer the latter not only for ability to have people register to my site, but it is also the registration form from joomla and has the secure image captcha that I want to use because of my biggest audience (older group). However, K2 does not function without system K2 plugin and thus my items and categories and images that I for the past month have worked on from my import of several years worth of Joomla articles for is worthless.

Is there a way to use K2 for content, but not have it involved with users? I do a blog (which is main reason I wanted K2 with its comments, gallery, etc. ) but I do not plan on having other bloggers writing on my website.

In other words, how do I have user function not be used in K2 and just let my joomla site manage users, log in and registration?

Thank you in advance.

If we comment that out as Jacob did with

the template is loaded but comments not working properly piperflyer.org/piper-single-engine-models/item/613.html

Random and 'Next' Item link = Pulling hair out frustration

Category: English K2 Community

Before I go on, THANK YOU for the constant support you've provided thousands throughout the years. A lot of people come on these forums, find their answer, and never give any sort of thanks -- so consider this a GIANT THANKS from everyone that does it!

I'm developing a site (currently located at worldovereasy.com/br3ad) and I'm running into two specific issues:

As you can see at the bottom of the page is the navigation for the site. On the right side of the logo I have 'RANDOM' and 'NEXT.'

When a user clicks 'NEXT,' I want them to be taken directly to the K2 item that is actually previous. So for example, the user clicks NEXT while they're in ID 466 and they will go to 465. Once on 465, they can click it again and it will go to 464...etc.

So essentially the NEXT will be used more of a PREVIOUS.

When users click on 'RANDOM,' they will go to a random K2 page.

My question is, how can I make this happen?

Here's what I've tried:

RANDOM:
- I've tried creating a menu item with K2 categories, then choosing random ordering, then displaying only one article -- then copy/pasting the link to see what wold happen. Essentially nothing happens, I get a blank main content area.

NEXT:
- Since the bottom nav area is actually a custom HTML module, I've I tried the obvious, pasting this in via Sourcer:
<?php if(isset($this->item->previousLink)): ?> <a class="itemPrevious" href="<?php echo $this->item->previousLink; ?>"> NEXT </a> <?php endif; ?>

The error I'm getting is:
Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in class.php on line ...

Mainly because you can't use "$this" in a static method.

I've tried to be as creative as possible to get this to work, but I'm running out of options.

Anyone else have an novel ideas? Also, I've searched these forums, the closest thing I can get to a solution is this:
www.gavick.com/forums/132/back-next-buttom-in-k2-item-14739

However it doesn't really provide any help.

Can you guys be heroes and help me out with this one? PLEASE! :D

This is the finder component requiring more memory.
You can increase your PHP memory limit or disable its indexing.
This is not directly related to K2.

As for the columns. It seems that you are not loading K2's css. Enable the loading of this stylesheets from K2's params.

Joomla 3.4 K2 Fatal Error

Category: English K2 Community

On the front end my blog layout is funky since I've upgraded K2 and Joomla to 3.4
jim-sharp.com/index.php/resources/blog
There should be 2 columns for the primary count. It seems to be making a column but no articles are showing up. The additional pages at the very bottom are also vertical and before looked neat and were horizontal.

In the backend
When I hit save in a Category with the debugging on I get some version of this message:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 31981568) (tried to allocate 42 bytes) in /homepages/26/d355661528/htdocs/jimsharp/administrator/components/com_finder/helpers/indexer/stemmer/snowball.php on line 128
Without debugging on :
500 Internal Server Error
Though I do see the changes reflected when I hit the back button. But, the problem on the front end doesn't go away.

Issue Resolved: Somehow when I upgraded to 3.4.0 it turned on User Registrations and I had 30,000+ bogus users that had signed up. I deleted all the users and now K2 is working properly. There may still be a problem with sites that have alot of legitimate users. I'm thinking the problem is that K2 is trying to load all those users into the drop down menu and it's crashing. Might be a good idea to set some sort of record limit to prevent this on other sites.
