Fatal Error

Category: English K2 Community

I have attempted to install K2 several times and I keep encountering the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/comguy/public_html/new/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 49

I have followed the instructions at community.getk2.org/notes/A_quick_step-by-step_guide_on_installing_and_setting_up_K2 to the letter and as soon as I get to step 6 I fill in the form with the Title, and I make a selection for Inherit parameter options from category, Associated "Extra Fields Group".  When I press Save, I get the Fatal Error.

I believe I download the latest release of K2 (K2 v2.4.1) at getk2.org/ today several times.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work out of the box as advertised!  Any ideas why this would be happening?

Thanks.

'Fatal Error' when trying to configure parameters

Category: English K2 Community

Hi All

I've trawled through various resources to try and fix this but no-body anywhere seems to have had this issue before, so i thought I'd come and ask the gods here what you all think and ask for a little help!!!!!

I am getting the following error when i try to access the parameters through the admin section of K2

Fatal error: Call to a member function getName() on a non-object in ....../libraries/joomla/application/component/view.php on line 449

Can anyone shed some light on this? I only became aware that I had no access when someone had informed me that I was starting to receive spam comments.  I have had a look for the parameters/config file amongst the admin and the front end components directories but cannot see anything resembling a file that would allow me to edit the parameters, I was thinking that worse case scenario I know how to edit these files to do what I need and add the captcha data.

Any help on this is appreciated and the quicker the better, I'm quick but not s quick as these spam bots, my fingers need to be equipped with fingers upon fingers to tackle those **replace with your favourite and most descriptive expletive**

Thanks

Dave

I checked the file k2category.php line 49, and there is this string:
mb_internal_encoding ("UTF-8");
If the error is:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding () in D: \ inetpub \ wwwroot \ joomla \ administrator \ components \ com_k2 \ tables \ k2category.php on line 49
I think it has something to do with the reverse proxy?Luis Alberto Climent Ruiz said:Thanks for the tip!I enabled the debug system and then create a category in K2 turns out this error:Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding () in D: \ inetpub \ wwwroot \ joomla \ administrator \ components \ com_k2 \ tables \ k2category.php on line 49I will continue to investigate ...William White said:What i meant is that i am not familiar with reverse proxy and your setup, but if your getting a blank screen investigate it by

Moved Joomla / K2 Site to Dedicated Server

Category: English K2 Community

Hello, I recently moved a Joomla site with heavy K2 usage to a new virtual dedicated server.  Now when trying to access K2 categories, add new categories or various other K2 functionality, I am getting errors similar to this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/bccc/public_html/components/com_k2/helpers/route.php on line 55

I tried reinstalling K2, but that had no effect.  It looks to me like we are missing some files that contain the encoding functions.  Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Josh

Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'File is not a valid image:... what happen????

Category: English K2 Community

I have a blog, and I use k2 to manager content.

I have not installed anything lately, now post an item, and create the image but not in the file

e-camilo.net/blog/media/k2/items/cache/8fe3e0f34d3083cba6fe73d62a783d7f_XL.jpg

and displays broken to the Following Error in front-end (e-camilo.net/blog)

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'File is not a valid image: /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/media/k2/items/cache/8fe3e0f34d3083cba6fe73d62a783d7f_XL.jpg' in /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/libs/phpthumb/ThumbBase.inc.php:193 Stack trace: #0 /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/libs/phpthumb/GdThumb.inc.php(1081): ThumbBase->triggerError('File is not a v...') #1 /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/libs/phpthumb/GdThumb.inc.php(98): GdThumb->determineFormat() #2 /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/libs/phpthumb/ThumbLib.inc.php(127): GdThumb->__construct('/home/camiloce/...', Array, false) #3 /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/helper.php(224): PhpThumbFactory::create('/home/camiloce/...') #4 /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/helper.php(121): modLofK2SlideShowHelper::renderThumb('http://e-camilo...', 370, 300, 'Desplazara twit...', '1') #5 /home/camiloce/publ in /home/camiloce/public_html/blog/modules/mod_lofk2slideshow/libs/phpthumb/ThumbBase.inc.php on line 193

I guess the errors of the front-end is generated not find images. What Happens? the strange thing is that I have not installed anything in the last 3 or 4 months old.

Thanks¡

Check the info tab in K2. It will tell you if mb_encoding is turned on in your server. If not contact your host to get it enabled

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/culturap/public_html/components/com_k2/helpers/route.php on line 55.

I am getting the error on top after I tried to add an article with the k2 with no difference from the others.

Any idea about adressing this issue?

Problems adding an Item

Category: English K2 Community

I had gotten an error everytime I click to save an item in K2.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/sandboxs/public_html/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2item.php on line 74

(Joomla 1.5) (PHP 5.2.9) The only way I could see what the error is it to;

1. Go to Global Configuration

2. Click on the SERVER link

3. Then change the Error Reporting to maximum.

4. Do what you were doing before and this time Joomla should tell you exact what the error is, that is how I got the about error text to know what the error is.

Now, what I did is talked to my hosting company about adding a "multibyte PHP" extension to my server. the "mb_internal_encoding" is trying to call something there but can not do what it needs to do because it needs the multibyte string running. This is from what I understand, please anyone can correct me as I got most of this information dealing with people over at JoomlaXTC and Liquidweb.

I am still awaiting the "mutlibyte PHP" to my server so I can then test this inclusive theory and then I will let you know. This might help the 500 error as well.

RSS Feed Pulls from Joomla, not K2 -- K2 2.4.1 Joomla 1.5.14 sh404SEF 1.0.11 Beta-build_147

Category: English K2 Community

Thanks.  These are things that a sales guy/business owner knows more than he'd like to know about, but is forced to do when no one else seems to be able to figure it out.

The site developer hasn't suggested the upgrades and I'd rather not break what's almost running by installing anything.  I did the K2 install on my own and asked the guys to recheck the RSS feed, but it didn;t work.  I see enough "fatal" error messages here and there on forums, that I feel like I'd risk ending up in a mess on my own.

What is the latest stable build for Joomla?  And also, what other components like Xmap might I have to look at when updating?  Thanks again!

Getting blank page when i try to create new category

Category: English K2 Community

Hello,

I am having trouble with creating a category in K2 as well. After I enter all the info for the category and hit save, it takes me to a blank page. I changed the error reporting to max in Joomla and downloaded an error_log file. Multibyte is supported and enabled on our server. Here are the errors that I see:

[23-Feb-2011 06:05:30] PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/apc.so' - /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/apc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0[23-Feb-2011 10:30:09] PHP Fatal error:  <br>The encoded file <b>/home/uloft/public_html/components/com_resource/models/list.php</b> requires a license file.<br>The license file <b>/home/uloft/public_html/components/com_resource/license.txt</b> is not valid for this server. in Unknown on line 0

There are quite a few of the first one. I have never seen any error messages that say anything about K2. Is there another error log somewhere that I don't know about? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is there a checklist of pre-requisites for K2 to work properly? undefined function mb_internal_encoding

Category: English K2 Community

I've just successfully installed K2 on Joomla 1.5.22 only to get an error when adding a category:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/element/public_html/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 49

Is there a checklist of pre-requisites for K2 that I can check? Maybe some settings on the server?
