Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home2/viewme/public_html/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 46

Category: English K2 Community

I also found this entry on a roktab thread on the rocketthemes forums:

www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=15&t=89664&rb_v=viewtopic

"Re: K2 Category Issue
Postby Patrickb on Thu Feb 11, 2010 5:56 pm
Well I found out that it was indeed a K2 problem. Apparently when configuring a "Category" you have to select a template and there is a drop down menu but the only selection available is highlighted as "Default". It was reading the forums when I found that you have to create a new folder in the same directory and copy the contents of default templates and rename file my templates. Then you can choose it when you create a category."

So perhaps the php rebuild with mbstring wasn't a requirement after all?

I have root access but in my WHM, at first view nothing listed; when I go into the advanced settings, lost of stuff to tweak but I don't see what exactly to tweak based on the above conversation thread.

Multibyte String mbstring.detect_order auto **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.encoding_translation OffOnOff **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.func_overload 0 **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.http_input auto **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.http_output SJIS **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.internal_encoding EUC-JP **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.language Japanese **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit
Multibyte String mbstring.substitute_character none **DEFAULT**, Click to Edit

Would very much appreciate a pointer :)

Thanks!

Khalid Hamadeh said:Well, If you have root access to your server all you do is run the following and re-compile php and add mbstring, if you don't you can ask your server administrator to do that for you, it should not take more than 20 minutes to do.

Joomfish & Extra Field Module

Category: English K2 Community

Hello, I have a problem with the Extra Field Module using Joomfish. My site's default language is Bulgarian, the second one is English. When the site was only in Bulgarian everything was OK. When I install Joomfish I get only the "Results for:" label and nothing else. I tried it out with different options for the "Only selected Extra field", "Restrict to specific category?" and "Results for all languages?", but I've got nothing in Bulgarian, nothing in English. When I uninstalled Joomfish everything was OK again.I've another issue - In Joomfish -> Translation -> Modules -> Extra Field Module I've got this message:"Fatal error: Cannot redeclare cmp() (previously declared in ...\modules\mod_k2_filter\includes\ExtraElements.php:52) in ...\modules\mod_k2_filter\includes\ExtraElements.php on line 52". And the page is really messed up and I can't translate it.Now I installed Joomfish again, but unpublished the module. I was using the Extra Field Module as a drop down menu for a drop down extra field.I've no other problems with k2 and Joomfish, everything else is just adorable!Any ideas?!?! Thank you!I'm using:Joomla 1.5.15K2 2.2Joomfish 2.0.4mod_k2_filter 0.92P.S. Actually my K2 search is not working too.

This did not work for me. IN fact, it caused the entire site to go down. Here's the message on the error note:

Fatal error: Class 'CText' not found in /home/content/j/e/f/jefftechdmt/html/sites/fasttrack/modules/mod_roktabs/tmpl/default.php on line 90

Marco Saluzzo said:I have had a look at the code. This is not a problem with K2 but an issue with RokTabs. For some reason they didn't code for a read more link. Don't ask me why. However attached is a the modified file that shows a read more link for both Joomla core articles and k2 items. Replace the file /modules/mod_roktabs/tmpl/default.php with the attached file. You should now have a read more link.

Category: English K2 Community

Hi, I had the same problem.

Disabling the MetaGenerator plug in, solved the problem.

However, it does re-appear the moment one enables the plug-in. I think it could be a compatibility problem with the MetaGenerator plug in.

My options were: which is the most useful, K2 or MetaGenerator?

K2 was my choice. So I've disabled MetaGenerator and am prepared to live without it for now.

Perhaps someone with the skills (I'm to new at this) can look into where the problem originates - K2 or MetaGenerator.

Hope that helps

I have looked at the code but its all confusing to me, anyone seen this before? Whatever help you can offer will be appreciated, i am very frustrated about this as it holds the key to my Homepage NEWS + Blog display

GK News Show Pro and k2

Category: English K2 Community

Hey Robert, I'd just like to congratulate you on the work you've done with the component and integrating it with k2. I had originally signed up on your site as a beta tester, ran into some problems (still having them) and never got the beta to work.

I have installed the module on a number of Joomla sites on my local network, most successfully, however one of them returned this error when attempting to create a new module in the Joomla admin backend:

Fatal error: Class '1' not found in libraries\joomla\language\language.php on line 171

I opened that file and commented out the code from line 171 to line 202. It appears to be a debug routine of some sort. Obviously not a final solution as I have no idea what other functions/calls etc in Joomla would rely on this routine, however I can now view/set the module via it's admin interface. Research on the net on the error message found this article that appears to say it could be something to do with coding in the module, although as I said earlier, it works on all of my other sites

www.acyba.com/en/support/forum/2-bug-report/895-fixed-fatal-error-on-acymailing-starter-edition.html

Another article on the web said it may be a clash with module code so I am deleting/uninstalling all installed modules one at a time to see if I can identify if this is in fact the problem, will report later

So, once again my thanks and appreciation for the work you've done on making this module available to the k2 community.

problem when copy website

Category: English K2 Community

Hi,I want to move from one server (ipower.com) the another one (godaddy.com) .
I had backup my website and restored it on the new one (my VPS on godaddy)

everything went OK (few things i had to fix, all of them are cache problems).
I now have problem with K2 , not everything is working now .
some of the pages i can't see, and thouse pages are K2 articles.

when i go to administrator and try to disable few things like:
when i go to categories, and then check one of the category -
on the right side of the screen i have the parameters, i tried to hide the "related items" (only to see if this cause the problem)  under "item view options".
and when i applied it, it gives me en error on the screen:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /home/gobulls/public_html/gobulls/administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 49

on the original website (the website i'm copy from), everything is OK .

Please advise .

P.S.
as i mention, the problems i had with the copying process was about caching, is there anything similar to this in K2 that i need to disable, change or delete ? any code i need to change ?

Hello All
This is not a k2 problem but rather a server problem.
If anyone else is experiencing the same thing then simply contact your hosting provider and ask them to enable multibyte support.
Should work after that.
Thanks to Fotis for his fast response.

You have to install using JCE's installer, not the Joomla! extensions installer. Search the first two pages of the comments of this post, I've already discussed this 3-4 times ;)
