hum... since what I plan to do is just for fun, i wanted something free...

I'm just fine with something free with limited database, limited space and limited band (someone is unlimited too ^^), that support joomla, and k2.  (joomla support is easy from free service, but not always k2.. just i don't know wich are compatible with k2 ^^)

Hi,

You can check if its enabled in K2 dashboard -> Information tab

The extension=php_mbstring must be enabled in your php.ini . Check with your host. Read here

Category: English K2 Community

Firstly, all my article I can see the author. But I cant access the Author profile page.

Secondly, the K2 login works but I use this three links

its brings up an Fatal Error message.

Anyone can help me with the above issues? These are the only issues I am facing from K2

PHP Upgrade Broke My Site

Category: English K2 Community

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but it's been so long I feel like a noob again. So, lemme see if i can succinctly spell out the problems...

I am hosting a Joomla/K2 site on Go Daddy: carissaandjaye.com

Everything was running fine until a PHP4 to PHP5 upgrade was performed. Now I get the dreaded Fatal Error msg:

Warning: require_once(/includes/version.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/t/e/a/teamcj/html/includes/joomla.php on line 71 Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/includes/version.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php') in /home/content/t/e/a/teamcj/html/includes/joomla.php on line 71

The error seems to stem from an improper value in the $mosConfig_absolute_path variable. I've already run the $path = getcwd(); trick to get the absolute path...which is also revealed in the above error: /home/content/t/e/a/teamcj/html.

If I go into the includes/joomla.php file and hard code the value of the absolute path on line 71, it resolves the error...but, of course, pushes the error on down the line where ever the variable is used.

I've been going round and round with Go Daddy's support, so I've been scouring for solutions elsewhere. I have some unknowns I need to resolve in order to fix the issue and having installed K2 seems to add another layer of questions. Now, on to the issues:

1) Does K2 alter the configuration.php file?

Other forums suggest that $mosConfig_absolute_path is set in the configuration.php file in the root of the site. however, this variable as well as a few others (cache, etc) are not listed there. I have not ever messed with the file until now, so not sure why these vars are missing or where they are now being set. I was wondering if K2 rewrote the config file and moved the variable declarations somewhere else during installation.

I've tried adding the variable declaration to the config file, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

2) How do I verify what versions of Joomla & K2 I have installed?

I know you are already asking it as you read this and I wish I had a confident answer about versions, but I don't. Since I cannot load the site nor access the admin area of the site, how can I tell which version of Joomla and K2 I am running? I do have access to the files thru FTP and I've been poking around looking for version numbers to no avail. Go Daddy's hosting connection panel says I am running Joomla 1.0.13 but I am not sure that is correct...did K2 support that early version?

3) The database is intact, can I do a clean install and link it to the old database?

I am hoping there is a simple and painless solution to the current problem, but worst case, can I just do a clean install and update to newer versions of Joomla & K2 and point it to the database? I thought there was some incompatibility issues with old and and new versions of K2 and Joomla that prevented this, but that was a few years ago when I looked into the idea.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

K2 CSV import tool

Category: English K2 Community

Hello Artur,

Just bought the tool - Exactly what I need! I guess...

I've installed Joomla 1.7, but it doesn't seem to be working with that (both 07stable and 08alpha3) - yet? A blank screen appears, when it has been installed and I try to access the component. This is not surprising though.

I tried to install 1.5.23 then - and installed the tool again. Both in 0.7stable and 0.8alpha3, but when I succesfully manages to upload a file (Your example file) and presses "continue", this error shows up:

Fatal error: Class 'JFile' not found in xxx/yyy/administrator/components/com_k2import/views/associate/view.html.php on line 32

So, is it me or the tool that has been doing something wrong?

Perhaps useful information?

How do you change the comments form to say "Leave a Review" instead???

Category: English K2 Community

Well, I think I'm losing my mind.

No changes I make to the /Components/com_k2/templates/default/Item_comments_form.php file make any difference on my product pages.

In fact, I can delete the entire /templates/ folder from the /com_k2/ folder without any affect on my product page item  display. Serious.

When I delete the /views/ folder, I'll get a fatal error on the product page so I know I'm not in the wrong site root.

I'm using the beta SVN version on my Joomla 1.6.3 installation. Could this be the cause?

Do you know of any discussion boards for the SVN beta?

Thanks again for your help - i really do appreciate it.

Error when creating new category

Category: English K2 Community

I downloaded k2 for Joomla 1.5 from getk2.org and installed K2 v2.4.1 on Joomla v1.5.23.  The install appeared to be successful.  I proceeded to add fields with no issue.  Then, when I attempted to add categories, I encounter the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in administrator/components/com_k2/tables/k2category.php on line 49

I attempted to access the code to determine cause, but I found the tables directory is missing completely.  I'll phrase that a little differently... the tables directory is missing completely from the com_k2 directory.

I read through the forum at community.getk2.org/forum/topics/error-on-category-creation, which covers the same issue, but there was no resolve for user who have their sites hosted.  I do not have access to my server so I can not make the changes mentioned in that post.

Has there been any update to k2 to resolve this issue for user that do not have access to their server?
